This was my ‘big trip’ for 2010. Members of the Flyer Forum had organised a trip to meet up in Cortona, Tuiscany, Italy for two days of merriment via a couple of stops in France to a grass airfield.
I decided to 'do my own thing' with the wife on the way down and back and to use the Raduno as the focus of our tour. The weather reports leading up to it of course were not fabulous, with poor weather forecast for the Rhone / Saone valley, it might be interesting as that we exactly where I wanted to route!
The PLAN, at least for me was:
Monday 7th June
Gloucester to LeTouquet (clear customs), then LeTouquet to Troyes, stay overnight in Troyes
Tuesday 8th June
Troyes to Cannes direct. Stay two nights in a posh hotel in the sun.
Thursday 10th June
Cannes to Montecchio direct. The official ‘Raduno 2010’ part of the trip where many other Flyer Forum pilots would gather and socialise.
Saturday 12th June
Montecchio to Albenga to refuel, then Albenga to Vichy. Overnight in Vichy.
Sunday 13th June
Vichy to Le Touquet to clear customs, then Le Touquet to Gloucester.
Well, that was the plan, but of course things do not always go to plan do they?
